Painting the Invitations. pt. 1

Last night Will & I spent at least 4 hours getting our invites together. Most of that time was spent hand painting each of them. Here's the punch line- we're still not finished with the painting. GRooOaaAN.

Heres the skinny:

In the Spring we bought this lovely Martha wedding invite set. This set has kinda set around because we're both procrastinators. However, Like any good putter-offer I have been thanking and plotting about what Im gonna do when we actually make the invites.

Last night I pulled them out and realize that all of my plans for the invitations are failures. I hate this wedding set. Its so boring. Its so Spring wedding. Its so void of character. Its so void of COLOR.

(YES, IM THAT OBSESSIVE OVER COLOR)

So, I huff and I puff and Will says: lets just buy another set. I huff and puff some more cause I havent seen another set I like and I have THIS ONE in front of me and darn it, I really wanna start these invites already!

Eventually, I plop down on the kitchen floor and I paint. and paint. and paint.

These are a few of the fully painted dry invites.

I really get obsessed over the dumbest stuff. The invites arent even close to being done. This is just the outside of them.

Our DIY (finally completed) T-Rex & Unicorn Save-The-Dates

The FRONT of the card: The design is from a painting i'll probably never finish. I labored over what to put on the front for a while, but I finally decided that Im really gonna NEED to put a dino on the card- so lets roll with it.

The inside of our card: The design is made with card stock from the art store. We stuck a Post It (that we hope people will stick on their calendars) in the middle.

Our Save-The-Date Post It note. An idea we got from Off Beat Bride.

The back: Just has a small stamped heart.

We hope these cards are fun for people to receive. That's just about the whole reason we made them.

We're still working on it. Only now, we are actually working on it. S-T-D s (save the dates, y'all) coming soon. really.

ps- this image was taken and manipulated from a currently (and possibly forever) unfinished painting of mine: CHARLIE & REX

9 months/ Save-The-Dates

It is nine months away from the wedding and Will and I broke out my massive and highly loved Sharpie collection and started doodling to brainstorm our Save The Dates. We haven't quite completed them but we're well on our way and fully expect/hope to have them out before Valentines Day. We wanted to wait till the New Year so people would have their new calendars to mark our wedding on.

Here are some of our doodles...

Personally, I would like the Top Doodle (weddin' TIME!) to be what we send out. HOWEVER, Will seems to think people will think less of us and we should try be a bit more classy. We'll see where compromise takes us.
